| Plant Establishment can be difficult on slopes. Wind, drainage & reduced exposure to rainfall provides a harsh, dry environment, usually quite different to normal local conditions. | ||||||||||||

Here you see Leaky Pipe LP12L incorpoated into the folds of the geotextile layers. The pipes lie horrizontally and are connected to polytube manifolds that run up&down the slope. The Leaky Pipe is spaced at around one metre "lifts" and are grouped into 4-5 pipe zones. Each 4-5metre "lift" has its own pressure regulator to ensure that the zone operating pressure can be tuned. The pressure differencial between the top pipe and the bottom pipe of a 5metre "lift" will have a neglegable difference to the leak rate of the pipes. The maximum length of Leaky Pipe ineach direction, away from the supply manifold, is 100metres. So for this example, the bank could be 200metres long. For larger banks, this design can be replicated. The system may be divided up into zones relative to their aspect, north, south, east&west as the watering requirment may vary from area to area. Hydroseeding can follow shortly after installation. Scheduled watering on a regular basis will ensure the quick germination of the grass and stability of the stucture. Once the herbage has matured, the bank will be fully resistant to erosion. Pressure regulation, water filtration and to a large extent, automation, is the key to successfully watering larger areas and the design of such a system may be specialist. If in doubt, contact us for guidance. Please plan well in advance! The installation of the carcass of a system like this can be made economically as a part of the building process. |
