A small filter, pressure regulator unit like this below is sufficient for systems with "zones" not exceeding more than 500metres of Leaky Pipe. It can easily be attached to the hosepipe with the common, hosesnap fitting.
Larger filters can be used if the water source is known to be dirty, or long duty cycles are required between cleaning the filter elements.
Although external dirt on Leaky Pipe® will not stop it working, Dirt on the inside will reduce its porosity, so clean water is important for long-term successful use of a Leaky Pipe® system. We always have the filters you need to protect the system from particulate accumulation carried in normal water.Experience has shown that, if used properly, Leaky Pipe® will remain serviceable for over ten years.
Our pressure regulators are not the cheepest but they adjustable to allow you the choice of settings. Water input strength permitting, the regulator will only allow a downstream pressure of between 1bar to 2.2bar. This range is ideal and we will always dispatch regulators set "midrange". The regulators job is to protect the system from being over-pressurised. Too much pressure will lead to uneven pressure,pin-jetting from the Leaky Pipe and possible blowing of the barbed joints.

The small filters are supplied with 3/4" BSP threaded ports. This makes them adaptable to many ways of plumbing into the line. The filter below has a 20mm compression output fitting to provide a reliable connection directly to any 20mm polytube,blue or black).
These units can be free-standing, perhaps hidden behind foliage. Sited underground, housed in a valve box or wall mounted using a wall mounting bracket.
Apart from timing equipment, the above units are the only part of a Leaky Pipe system that is suseptable to damage through freezing. So units need to be protected or removed over winter.
Finally, these units are not compusory to use, in fact it is not economic to use one if you are only using 100metres of Leaky Pipe. However, we will always install filteration and pressure regulation into systems we install to ensure good operation. If you intend buying more than 200metres of Leaky, consider a filter/regulator seriously.
