LDPE polytube is easy to work with using simple, push-fit barbed fittings. 20mm Polytube is very useful in providing a reasonably efficient way of distributing water around a garden or small site. But to get water easily into the polytube, either provide a connection to 16mm (1/2") garden hose via a 16-20 barbed connector shown below:-

Or you may choose to have a Hosesnap to barbed adapter fitting to connect to the polytube. Tempory hose connection is easy this way and there is also an option to use a 20mm barbed tee adapter to distribute water in tow directions. A note regarding the tee option; the slower you encourage the water to move around your systems polytube network, the more even the operation pressure will be at the Leaky Pipes.
