Garden Watering Kits
A Hosepipe Ban means you are unable to use your hosepipe for watering the garden or plants in your garden at home. It is intended to make the best use of valuable water supplies that are in short supply. LeakyPipe has a similar ethos as it uses less water than a hosepipe for watering the garden, and it delivers water direct to the soil. It works even more efficiently used sub-surface under a layer of mulch or soil.
In hosepipe bans, drip or trickle irrigation systems are often permitted in the following circumstances:
- The system must be fitted with a pressure reducing valve and a timer
- The system must place water drip by drip directly onto the soil surface, or beneath the soil surface, without any surface run off. (LeakyPipe does this)
We have put a kit together which meets these requirements. The timer and adjustable pressure reducing valve are preassembled with PTFE tape. The LeakyPipe does not connect direct to the timer/pressure regulator and you will need to provide a short length of hosepipe to carry the water from the timer to the LeakyPipe area. This avoids watering the in-between areas of paths, patios etc, unnecessarily. Hosesnap / Hozelock type fittings are compatible.
You will need:
- 2x 1.5V AA batteries for the tap timer
- length of non-leaking pipe eg hosepipe, to carry the water from the pressure regulator to the area you want to water with LeakyPipe. You will need female hozelock type connectors on your pipe.
- scissors or secateurs to cut the LeakyPipe to length,
- simple self-assembly using push-fit connectors which grip the inside of the LeakyPipe without the need for clips.
- Once you see the LeakyPipe working, cover with a layer of mulch or soil.

This 50m soaker hose kit is an economical package to buy and benefit from saving your plants from moisture stress, getting them to grow faster. You get 50metres of LeakyPipe®(LP12H), Two 12mm barbed plugs & the green and black fitting is a Hosesnap to 12mm barbed tee.
This 50metre Hose Pipe Kit will Easily Irrigate up to 50m as a Single Length.
Start watering here with a connector supplied. It will allow you to cut your roll into two lengths of your choice. Then connect the those lengths of LeakyPipe® to hosepipe using the green and black, hosesnap to barbed tee fitting, to work them at once. Alternatively, if you want to just run one length of Leaky, just cap-off the redundant tee with a short piece of LP and the spare 12mm barbed plug. Simple and quick.
This kit is essentially the same as the Garden Border 100m Kit with the addition of a timer and an adjustable pressure reducing valve, which means that watering your garden with this kit is exempt from the Hosepipe Bans currently in force in some areas.
To complete the system you will need:
- 2x 1.5V AA batteries for the timer
- length of hosepipe (or other non-leaking pipe) to carry the water from the pressure regulator to the garden border you wish to water. The hosepipe will need female hozelock type connectors at both ends.
- pair of scissors or secateurs to cut the LeakyPipe® to length
- finally push the fittings into the LeakyPipe®, turn on the system and then cover in a layer of mulch or soil to further enhance the water 'wicking' away into the surrounding soil. Additional clips aren't needed.

Hosepipe bans mean garden irrigation systems cannot be used unless fitted with a "pressure reducing valve and timer". This simple assembly can be screwed onto your garden tap output and allows you to efficiently water your garden via an exemption from the hosepipe bans.
Timer:
With a big dial to programme your watering times, this is just about the simplest timer available at a very cheap price. Two good quality alkaline AA batteries will keep this unit running all summer.
Adjustable Pressure Regulator:
This is a device that will adjust itself to allow a suitable downstream pressure. It will do this automatically as the input pressure may vary. You can adjust the downstream pressure using a screwdriver if necessary.
